A person’s oral health is important especially to that person. Having good oral health can increase one’s self-esteem and confidence. As a person wanting good oral health, we give our full trust to the dentist who will take care of it. But what if the dentist will harm your oral health due to the negligence he/she committed? And as for the dentist, what will you do when your patient will file a complaint against you? Always remember that when facing complaint cases before the Board, you should secure having a good defense and that is a dental attorney.

A dentist in Arlington, Texas was facing a complaint case. It was on December 16, 2009, when a patient received implants from the dentist into the #49, 20, and 21 tooth sites. Sometime thereafter, the implants failed. Over the course of several years, the dentist replaced the implants a number of times, however, the dentist never achieved integration, and the implants continued to fail.

On or about August 7, 2014, the patient went in for one of the surgery treatments by the dentist for the failed implants. And on or about August 13, 2014, the patient went back to the dentist for an emergency visit and reported to the dentist that her lower left side lip felt numb. The dentist then instructed the patient to take her antibiotics and consult with her physician.

After those incidents, the patient experience infection on the floor of the mouth which is called Ludwig’s angina, a rare skin infection that is underneath the tongue. Because of this, the patient consulted an oral surgeon. Surgery was performed on the patient to remove all the implants and the damage done to the patient.

As a result, the patient sued the dentist for medical malpractice that the dentist repeatedly neglects the care and treatment of the patient which causes injury to the patient’s oral health. The dentist was then subjected to a disciplinary action issued by the Board.

Such unprofessional conduct leads to the Board’s unfavorable decision for the dentist. If the dentist had hired a dental attorney for the case, the decision could have been in the dentist’s favor. A dental attorney represents dentists in any legal matters. The only thing you need to do is to find the right dental attorney to help you with such cases.
