When it comes to cases and complaints regarding dental issues, a dental attorney is needed when attending hearings before the Board. The Board does not allow those who wish to exceed the scope of their practice as a dentist. A certain dentist in Austin could’ve done this but failed to hire a good dental attorney.

In 2009, the dentist engaged in dishonorable conduct by impermissibly delegating acts to individuals who were prohibited from performing those acts. Specifically, she impermissibly delegated the administration and monitoring of nitrous oxide to dental assistants.

Additionally, the dentist engaged in dishonorable conduct by prescribing controlled substances for a non-dental purpose to her patient which is her family member.

From December 2009 through 2010, the dentist fell below the minimum standard of care by failing to make, maintain, and keep adequate dental records for controlled substances dispensed from her office when she failed to keep a controlled substance log for a 100-count bottle of clonazepam and could not account for its whereabouts.

The Board took action to the case, summoning the dentist to defend against the accusation. During the hearing, the dentist states that she no longer dispenses medication from her office.

Unfortunately, the dentist failed to hire a good dental attorney to help her defend her case.

As a result, the dentist was sentenced to disciplinary action to ensure that she will never commit such acts again.

Losing your license may greatly affect your future career, but only if you failed to hire a dental attorney for the case. There are some dentists who missed their chances to get their license saved from revocation just because they weren’t able to hire any dental attorney to defend them. Don’t let the abovementioned dentist’s story happened to you.

The case would have yielded a different result if the dentist was able to hire a dental attorney. So if you also have the same cases or concerns, it’s best to contact Dental Attorney Yong J.
