Losing your license may greatly affect your future career, but only if you failed to hire a dental attorney for the case. There are some dentists who missed their chances to get their license saved from revocation just because they weren’t able to hire any dental attorney to defend them. Unfortunately, this dentist from El Paso, Texas happens to be one of them.
On or about October 28, 2008, Respondent fell below the minimum standard of care in the dental treatment of her patient in that she failed to meet the minimum standard of care in the root canal treatment of tooth number 31. The patient sustained no out-of-pocket expense for root canal treatment of tooth number 31.
On or about June 16, 2010, the dentist again fell below the minimum standard of care in the dental treatment of her patient in that she accidentally aspirated a root of an extracted tooth during a dental procedure. After monitoring the patient in the office and presuming that she had not aspirated the tooth fragment, the dentist sent her home with instructions to go to an emergency room if she had difficulty breathing. In fact, the patient had aspirated the tooth fragment, which required hospitalization for its extraction.
During the time period from July 16, 2010, through May 3, 2011, the dentist failed to timely report the hospitalization of her patient as a possible consequence of dental services.
Because of this, the dentist was summoned to hear her side. Unfortunately, with the lack of an effective dental attorney to defend her case, the Board decided to take disciplinary action against the dentist.
