When it comes to cases and complaints regarding dental, a dental attorney is needed when attending hearings before the Board. The Board does not allow those who wish to exceed the scope of their practice as a dentist. A certain dentist in Houston could’ve done this but failed to hire a good dental attorney.

During the time of the initial incident, the dentist was practicing her license in a small dental clinic located in Houston. She had been practicing her license for more than three years already when the incident happened.

During the time period from October 1, 2012, through October 8, 2012, the dentist fell below the minimum standard of care during the dental treatment of her patient.

Specifically, she applied excess cement and placed a temporary crown with multiple occlusal interferences during endodontic treatment of tooth number 18. The patient suffered discomfort and tooth number 18 required re-treatment.

During the time period from October 1, 2012, through October B, 2012, the dentist again fell below the minimum standard of care by failing to make, maintain, and keep adequate records for her patient in that the records did not include:

  1. vital signs;
  2. written informed consent signed by the patient; or
  3. an explanation for why items a.& b. were not included.

The Board took action to the case, summoning the dentist to defend against the accusation. Unfortunately, the dentist failed to hire a good dental attorney to help her defend her case.

As a result, the dentist was sentenced to disciplinary action to ensure that she will never commit such acts again.

The case would have yielded a different result if the dentist was able to hire a dental attorney. So if you also have the same cases or concerns, it’s best to contact Dental Attorney Yong J.
