Losing your license may greatly affect your future career, but only if you failed to hire a dental attorney for your case. There are some dentists who missed their chances to get their license saved just because they weren’t able to hire any dental attorney to properly defend them.  Unfortunately, a dentist from Austin happens to be one of them.

A dentist received a letter of complaint from a patient due to alleged dental negligence.

The patient had been a regular attendee with the dentist for over 40 years from the age of 21. She put a lot of trust in her dentist and felt confident that she was receiving the best level of care over the years. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case.

According to the complaint, the dentist provided the patient with a number of restorations, such as, root canal treatment and implant replacements, while not diagnosing the decay that was present at a number of her teeth.

It was when the patient started to experience pain at her some of her teeth that she thought there may be a problem, on some occasions the pain kept her awake at night. She visited the dentist and explained the situation but was just prescribed antibiotics.

While the antibiotics helped for a while they didn’t fully get rid of the pain from which she was suffering. So the patient decided she wanted to see another dentist and get their opinion.

Referral suggested that decay was found in a number of teeth and poor restorations such as root canal treatment, implant replacements and crowns were also noted.

The dentist’s lack of care resulted in the patient losing 5 teeth and being in severe pain for a long time. She suffered an unpleasant taste in her mouth for several months, infections, and having to undergo courses of implant treatment. Along with all this, she will now require future implant replacement, root canal treatment, and crown provision.

Because of this, the dentist was summoned by the Board. She was given the chance to explain her side. This is the part where the dentist should consult a dental attorney.

If you ever undergo cases such as this, it’s best to seek the assistance of a good dental attorney as it could make the case better in your favor. Be sure to find a dental attorney who’s experienced and knowledgeable in several cases to ensure the best assistance possible.
