Allegations and complaints could be a serious case, which is why a dental attorney is needed if you get accused of this kind of scenario. However, some who thought they were guilty of the charges failed to hire a dental attorney just because they thought it’s the doom for their license already. But that is not entirely the case as there is still hope.
Unfortunately, a dentist from Houston failed to do this. Eventually, the allegations resulted in disciplinary action. Take note that the Board who handles all of the cases may affect the dentist’s license from receiving the suspension, disciplinary action, or revocation. However, with the right dental attorney for the case, rest assured that the case can go according to the dentist’s favor, especially if the dentist has a good defense against the case.
The patient complained that the dentist failed to diagnose and treat the decay and perform satisfactory treatment on her tooth which resulted in her losing the tooth and requiring further treatment.
In January 2015, the patient made an appointment complaining of pain and sensitivity in her teeth.
The patient mentioned that the left-hand side of her mouth felt very sensitive and painful. The dentist told her that she had lost one of her fillings but she said that it wasn’t urgent to get this replaced.
The patient was in the first trimester of her pregnancy at the time and was having terrible morning sickness and the pain was making it worse, but the dentist allegedly did not seem concerned about doing anything straight away and advised that the patient wait to see if the pain would settle down on its own.
A year later in January 2016, now a mother with a young baby, the patient was still experiencing great discomfort so went to see the dentist who took an x-ray and placed a filling on the tooth. However, just a month later the patient had to go back and see the dentist as the pain had only gotten worse.
Over the next five months, the patient went to see the dentist on seven occasions as she could not bite down on the tooth and was continuing to suffer from excruciating pain. During this time, she had a night guard fitted and another new filling placed on the tooth. The stress of raising a child and dealing with such severe pain took a toll on the patient ’s mental wellbeing.
This is the reason why the dentist’s license was disciplined and suspended.
